A 5000 m2 high strength mesh membrane velarium covering the Mercedes stand was a highly complex project for Canobbio Textile as regards the production of the membranes and the respective skylights fitted by our skilled welders using state of the art high frequency welding machines.

“The appearance of Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG and Maybach was concentrated in the Frankfurt festival hall, which celebrated its centenary this year. With its once visionary steel structure, it was the largest freestanding hall in Europe.

A huge mesh membrane textile was tensioned over the exhibition hall and used for light and projection.

It consists of 110 panels which include 27 lens-shaped cuts for spotlights to cast light on the cars.

A steel cable covered the membrane up to the outer edge of the existing steel structure. A surface with different biaxial curvature” was created using 2 rings measuring 10 and 8.5 m in Ø and a pneumatic “membrane balloon” measuring 13 m in Ø.”
