Thanks to our international experience in the application of ETFE in textile architecture, we – as Canobbio Textile – were commissioned to take part in the construction of this new Sports Center in the town of Korca, “a new sports and cultural complex that aims to restore the city’s sporting tradition and the massification of sports across all ages”. More precisely we – as Canobbio Textile – were assigned the task of designing, producing and installing a part of a cover serving as a SKYLIGHT consisting of several rectangular cushions fixed to the main structure by means of special totally waterproof aluminium sections of the side closures consisting of a double interlocking row of triangular shaped triple layer cushions fixed to the main structure using aluminium sections. The front entrance consisting of 20 triangular cushions designed to form a pyramid which – due to its characteristics – is wide and bright. The supply includes a total of 127 triple layer silk-screen cushions, for an area of 2,200 m², kept pressurised by a system of low energy consumption and extremely silent high performance inflation machines.

“ETFE is fully UV-permeable: As a matter of fact, this offers the option to design covered spaces, which however maintain the lighting conditions of the open spaces. Furthermore, UV rays allow the growth and maintenance of grass in sports fields. This makes ETFE an advantageous material for the building sports stadiums or sports centres”.
