In cooperation with the Environment and Energy Department of Politecnico di Milano, Prof.ssa Adriana Angelotti, Prof.ssa Alessandra Zanelli and Dr. Hua Suo, it has been an exhaustive study was carried out on the following cases:
- How to improve energy efficiency and energy consumption in cold climates
- How to avoid condensation problems
- How to improve internal comfort for the final users
- How to find innovative solutions for structures that require Air Conditioning systems in warm climates
The following construction typologies were therefore outlined:



By comparing the three generations in the same climate conditions, the results were that DM allows savings of 11% if compared to the SM and that the ENERGY P allows savings of 18% when compared to the SM. Additional savings for ENERGY P can be obtained by removing thermal bridges.


By improving the design of details for the ground coupling and entrance doors we can reduce heat dispersions (red areas in the picture) and reach 19% of savings in the SM. From SM to DM we can get savings of around 11% while the ENERGY P savings can get to 18%.


The advantages obtainable with ENERGY P compared with the DM are mainly due by reducing the internal air temperature from 18°C to 14°C. Without worsening the thermo hygrometric comfort of the end users by taking advantage of the higher average radiant internal temperature, by removing thermal bridges along the perimeter of the pneumatic cushions, avoiding condensation and reducing dispersions on the borders (doors and ground coupling) one can get to, on the whole, more than 49% savings. In Hong Kong, which has a warm climate and Air Conditioning is required, a special design was devised which provides 3 layers: the one in between is a low E mirrored fabric.
